Nursing Schools in Nebraska
If you're travelling across the Midwest and enter into a territory of vast plains, then chances are, you're in Nebraska. The Cornhusker State is home to the Dissected Till Plains, which is an area filled with rolling hills carved out by retreating Ice Age glaciers. The Great Plains also run through the state, providing residents with ideal grounds for agriculture and ranching. In fact, these industries are the most prosperous in Nebraska, especially in the production of beef, corn, and soybeans. Another fascinating fact is that the state is the birthplace of an iconic childhood summertime drink staple – Kool-Aid. To celebrate this fun history, the city of Hastings – where the sugary beverage was born – throws a big three-day celebration called "Kool-Aid Days" every August.
However, do not think that Nebraska is just full of Kool-Aid sipping ranch hands. The Cornhusker State also boasts some good opportunities for nurses looking to work in a more rural healthcare setting. The best nursing opportunities can be found in the more populated and metropolitan places of the state, particularly in Omaha and the surrounding area. To become a registered nurse (RN) in Nebraska, one must obtain a diploma, associate, or bachelor's degree from an approved nursing program. Then, prospective nurses must also successfully complete the NCLEX-RN examination to obtain a nursing license. Those who are looking to become an RN by endorsement must have an education from an approved nursing program, have proof of their age and citizenship, be currently licensed and employed in another jurisdiction, complete the NCLEX-RN examination, and either have graduated from the nursing program within the past two years, have at least 500 hours of nursing practice within the past five years, or have completed a review nursing course within the past five years.
