The Associate of Applied Science degree is intended to provide students with the skills and training needed to enter the workforce shortly upon completion of the program. Associate of Science degree programs generally also prepare students for a four year university degree, but with strong concentrations in mathematics, health sciences, technology, or general sciences.
Associate degrees can come in a variety of different concentrations. Common associate degrees include criminal justice or paralegal studies, healthcare administration, business administration, general studies, accounting, and computer science. Additional concentrations in associate degrees include nursing, technical arts, liberal arts, humanities, medical coding and billing, information systems, public safety, and history.
