Demand for Nurses
Nurses may be the most in-demand health care position in the country.
A Library for Nurses
February 1st, 2011
General Electric (GE) Healthcare, a provider of medical technologies and services, recently announced that it will introduce a library of online courses for individuals who wish to advance their education beyond their nursing degree.
Through their subscription-based online library, GE Healthcare hopes its courses will appeal to registered nurses and professionals in specialty fields such as obstetrics, telemetry as well as emergency and critical care.
Jenne Meyer, marketing leader for GE Healthcare’s Education Services, describes the cost-effective educational nursing program as “diverse” and “flexible.” To make the courses more convenient for subscribers, the library is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Individuals who choose to take the online courses will encounter a number of current and relevant nursing topics. Performance quality, stress management techniques and blood donation are among the many areas of study that are addressed. In addition, the library receives continuous updates.
“We continue to hear from nurses about the need for better education on all levels to help them perform better at their jobs,” adds Meyer.
As the healthcare industry expands to meet the demand of a rising patient population, online nursing programs may provide an opportunity for professionals to advance their knowledge on their own time.
